New Infosys Mysore Training Format and Assessment

Hi All,

As we're receiving a lot of queries regarding the change in Infy Mysore Training format and pattern. we've come up with this post to give you some idea regarding the same.

However this information is not official info and has been collected from current trainees in y Mysore Infy.

So here are the few important facts about the new Training format/pattern :

1.The unit responsible for training E&R (Education and Research ) is changed to ETA (Education, Training and Assessment). The new unit will be responsible for sessions and Evaluation.

2. Duration of training has been reduced to 3 months.

3, The Generic and Stream courses have been modified and include following subjects :
  • Object Oriented Programming (Algorithm analysis and Java)
  • RDBMS (SQL with Oracle)
  • Software Engineering(SDLC, HTML)
  • Operating Systems
  • Spring, Mainframes (For Stream Only)

Training Pattern for Generic (unofficial) :

  • Java (7days) - (Objective - 50 marks, Hands-on - 20 marks, Alternate Hands-on -30marks)
  •  RDBMS (6days) - (Objective - 50marks, Hands-on - 50 marks)
  • Software Engineering (6days) - (Objective - 50 marks, Hands-on - 20 marks, Alternate Hands-on -30marks)
  • Qualifying Score in each module is 65%
  • Only One Retest will be conducted If you fail the above Exams.
  • 7days will be given for retest preparation (including 2 doubt clearing sessions)
  • If you fail in the retest you'll be asked to leave the company.

So from the above facts you can get a good idea about how the difficulty level of Training has increased. Trainees will hardly get  any time to adjust, so its better to be prepared with the Generic subjects before you join Infosys Mysore Training.

OBJECTIVE TESTS :
-----------------

For objective part, we were given 2 hours or 2.30 hours[exactly I don’t remember], whatever time span might be, it was enough to complete the objective and that too we completed it comfortably, so don’t worry about that. Objective part comprised of  questions, based on 5 subjects –Java, RDBMS, OS, IWT and Software Engineering.  However one should keep in mind that for every wrong answer there is a negative marking of 0.25 too. The standard of objective questions was the same like your “Post Test”. (Apart from that, a sample question paper will also be uploaded after the completion of your course in that portal, so that one can refer it later).

Java: - Questions related to java were very simple, based on basics/fundamentals [very important, get your fundamentals clear]. Most of the questions were output related. Very few questions were theoretical.

RDBMS: - Questions asked in RDBMS section were of average standard. Most of the questions were based on queries. Some of the questions were based on output covering both queries and PL/SQL. It is highly essential that you should have clear knowledge about queries and proper syntax of pl/sql statements else you may get confuse .

OS: - Questions in this section were very easy. Some questions were direct and theoretical while others were numerical; yes you need to do some calculations. One should have clear knowledge about all concepts mentioned in the study material. Please don’t ignore any numerical, there is a high probability that you may face more numerical than simple and direct theoretical questions. Please solve ample problems related to process scheduling and page replacement algorithms as it is a very important section of  OS, you may get maximum questions from that.

IWT: - You will get simple and direct questions. There are few sections which you should take care of like network topologies, architecture, protocols, and load balancing. You should not face any problem in this section.

S.E-In this section you will get simple and direct questions. Please read thoroughly “software development life cycle”, various life cycles, quality. These are important topics of SE.

Now let’s move onto practical section:
First of all, we had to configure our systems as all systems are connected to LAN and we had to operate on servers. [Don’t worry, they will be instructing and guiding you throughout the process.]

Please note that, one has to code java programs using ECLIPSE and for RDBMS we have to use Oracle ( SQL plus). If one doesn’t have any idea about these, then please download and start using them as no other alternative will be given.

HANDS-ON/Practical ----------------------

It is quite interesting to know that this part is an open book meaning you will be provided with reference materials for in case u forgot syntax or faced any problem, you can refer it anytime. Time limit for “hands on” is 2 hours.

Java:- Again, question was very simple[Like we were given an interface and had to implement that interface in a class]. I would suggest you all, please read the question at least 2 times in order to understand the need of question because question will be very long and you may not get it in one go. All requirements will be given in the question itself, you just need to follow and code it. A class diagram would also be given stating what and how to implement. Believe me, it’s like skeleton is already being provided to you, you just need to give flesh (logic) in order to bring it in a proper shape. A simple tip I would like to give that try to break the question in to small parts/steps and code it in a sequence as per mentioned in the question satisfying the requirements. I think, you will find it easier this way.

In order to test your code whether it is OK or not, you will need a demo class or a class containing main method with/without values. This class will be given to you beforehand along with “files supplied”. One should be conscious about time factor as java programs will consume maximum of your time, so one should manage time efficiently. You need to submit error free and compiled code, it is a must. Please try to implement simple logic as far as possible; else you will get confuse by yourself only.

RDBMS: - Question related to RDBMS had 2 parts…
First part had 3 queries based questions. You have to make queries on table which may be pre-given (previously present on server) or you may have to create it by yourself as specified in the question. As in my case code to create the table was already been given in the question paper along with the data, we just had to “copy-paste” it (not a big deal). These query based question may be simple and direct/complex and tricky. So pay undivided attention to that while solving. If all goes well, it will take hardly 10 minutes to execute all three questions.

Then comes second part in which you have to code a pl/sql program. Like java, all requirements will be specified in question paper; you just need to code it. Be assured that pl/sql program will be easier as compared to sql or queries related questions.
After completing everything you will be asked to submit your java source code files and RDBMS source files .For RDBMS, you have to first write and execute commands, if it works fine then you just needs to copy and paste it in a text file, at the end you have to submit it.

Please keep it mind that you need to follow /adhere to all business conventions way of coding.
Few suggestions:

1) Please maintain a note while watching videos or studying material, it will help you in quick revision.
2) Please solve assignments of Java and RDBMS; it will help you a lot.
3) Please while watching videos pay your full attentions, as narrator may tell some points orally and you may miss it.
4) Please go through videos as well as study materials because some topics which are in videos are not covered in PDF and vice versa.

InfyLounge Guide | NSR Registration Process

Complete Step by step Guide about National Skills Registry (NSR) Registration Process :

Note : Use Internet Explorer (IE 8 or previous version, even IE 9 has compatibility problems) for the registration process. Google Chrome and Firefox encounter too many bugs during registration. All Indian Govt. websites have strange affinity for IE ! :)

  •  Go to https://nationalskillsregistry.com/
  •  When asked "This page contains both secure and nonsecure items: Do you want to display the nonsecure items?" choose YES
  •  Look for "NEW USER?" and click "Register Now" (provided you are registering for the first time or else "Complete your Registration" (provided you already filled up some details and have to fill the rest).

  • After you click "Register Now" a  pop-up window appears (enable pop-up windows for this site) https://nationalskillsregistry.com/nasscom/pageflows/itp/itpRegistration/begin.do

  • Read the instructions, select "I Agree" selected, click "Submit"
  • Select NSR Registration Requested By "Registering at my own" (You can always change the details later, you don't need to select anything right now if you are a fresher and if you are presently employed give your employer name and ID.
  • Then in the personal information fill up the relevant details. Mother's maiden name means "Surname that she used before she was married". You don't need to write the full name, only surname is required.
  • Fill up the present address block. Your NSR IT Card will be delivered to this address or else the permanent address (you can choose that later in the steps), so fill it up carefully.
  • Fill up the immediate previous address (if any). If you stayed at your present address for more than 1 year, then only you need to fill up this block else this block cannot be filled up.
  • Permanent Address Block. If it's the same as the present address then the present address will be reflected back in this block else you need to fill up the permanent address.
  • Other Personal Information: Country code for India is 91 (Don't write + or 0, only the country code).  Then write state code i.e. the STD code (Example. For Kolkata it is 33) and then the phone number.
  • If you have Passport and/or PAN enter the details, else leave the fields blank.
  • Authentication part is the next one. Fill it up. Login Id can be anything you wish (more than 5 letters). There are 2 passwords Login and Transaction. Follow the Password Rules and set your passwords. Two password cannot be same. In short your passwords should be strong passwords.
  • Click "Save and Continue".
  • Now you will get your Acknowledgment number. Save it in Notepad
  • Then  fill up your education details. If you don't have any professional certificates, leave them blank. (remember you can always change then later, so don't worry).

  • If you are not currently employed, then when asked for "Presently employed"... choose "No" (For freshers). This will make all the fields inactivate and you can proceed. Else fill up the relevant details. (Again if you wish you can always change these things later)
  • Choose the card delivery address.
  • Click on "Submit and View".
  • The details entered by you will be displayed in a single page. Here you can either modify them (in case of errors or if you wish to add something extra) or leave them as they are after re-checking them.

  • Then click on "Continue your registration by doing the payment".
  • Registration amount will be displayed and you have to choose the payment mode.
  • You can either pay online or at the location of POS (Offices assigned by NASSCOM). For a list of POS check - https://nationalskillsregistry.com/pos-details-register.htm
  • Sinceyou have to visit a POS to submit your fingerprints,  you can also pay the fees along with your fingerprints. You can pay by either cash or DD.
  • Now you will get your ITP Web Registration Acknowledgement Form
  • Print the (ITP Web Registration Acknowledgement Form). Even If you don't have a printer with you , you can always enter your NSR account by going to "New User", click "Complete your Registration",  Enter the Acknowledgment Number & Password and from there on get this Acknowledgement form and print it.
  • Then with your photo attached and signature in the form, go to a POS (Point Of Service) with the fees and a Photo identity [Voter's Id card/Passport/Driving License/Bank Pass Book (with Photo)/College Icard (not more than 1 year old)/PAN card/Employment Identity Card] within 30 days of completing the online registration. The validity of the acknowledgment form is also mentioned in the form itself.
  • The whole process of taking fingerprints takes about 5-7 minutes.
  • After paying the fees and fingerprints, you will get your ITPIN in a short duration. It will be sent to your email id (the one you provided).
  • That's it! You will get your card within 20-30 days. You can check the card status also.

So that was long but don't worry, folow these steps and do your registration. And don't forget to Like Our Facebook Page to get regular updates about Infy directly on Facebook!

Training @ Infosys Mysore - Accommodation & Facilities

There are many sobriquets associated with the Infosys DC Mysore - "The Place To Be" , "Heaven On Earth" , "A Paradise". The state-of-the-art Infrastructure and Facilities in Infosys Mysore are the reason behind such names. People who have been there say that it's a different world altogether as soon as they step into the Campus. I'm sure you would be very excited to know what's in store at Infy Mysore, here's our summary on the Accomodation and Facilities at Infosys DC Mysore -

Accommodation and Facilities

* The allotment of Accommodation will be done on the first day of arrival (check Infy Training - First Day for first day process )

All Boys will get Single rooms and Almost all Girls will get shared rooms. Still 1 percentile of Girls who are extremely lucky stand a chance to get single rooms!

* The charges for the shared accommodation is Rs. 3000/- per month, per person and charges for single occupancy is Rs. 3750/- per month, per person. So girls are bound to get more compensation than Boys during training! ( The Avg. salary for boys is about 13-14k whereas for Girls it is 14-15k)

* This charges for accommodation will be deducted from the salary. No need to pay any amount in advance. Please note that rooms will be allotted on the basis of availability and requests for room change will not be obliged.

* The Accommodation will be arranged only for the Trainees only, so anybody accompanying you (Parents or Guardians) won't be able to avail accommodation.

* All these facilities are there in your room :

Towel, bed sheet, bed covers, pillows, pillow cover, quilt, coffee and tea sachets with sugar (daily 1 each), bathing towel, 6 hangers, doormat, coffee and tea maker, a cup, glass, spoon, table lamp, wall clock, LCD TV, basket for dirty clothes, Almirah with electronic locker, all out for mosquitoes water bottle, table and study chair , sofa, western style bathroom with shower, an AC (though you will never feel the need to switch it on)

* Things you may or may not carry (as you can buy them in campus) :

Nail cutters, pens, pencil, copies and all kinds of stationary,

Face washes and creams (unless it's a rare brand)

Umbrellas/rain coats.. torrential rains are quite common in Mysore.

* There is also a large departmental store (more like supermarket) where you can buy all your daily stuffs.

* There are 4-6 ATM centres near GEC 1 and GEC 2(Global education center), ILI, ECC (Employee Care Centre), Food Courts. So you won't have issues regarding ATMs in the campus.
Also during the Induction program (1st week) they will help us to open an ICICI Bank account.

* The new staff hostels are at a good distance from the GECs, so If you are a sincere and punctual chap you wont mind walking to the GECs, for everyone else there are the bicycles, around 2500 of them, There are at least one cycle stand in front of every major building, so you won't even have to search for them.

* Almost every hostel has an attached Laundromat where you can wash your clothes in the machine and also get them ironed, so need to get a iron from home (the choice is yours though).
You can get the tickets for the Laundromat at the Reception or at the Laundromat itself.

* The ECC (Employee Care Centre) is the most important place for a Trainee in the campus. Built on Spanish architectural design, it has every facility you can think of, namely a gymnasium, badminton courts, table tennis, & squash courts, pool tables, aerobics centre swimming pool, Jacuzzi, bowling alley, climbing wall, meditation hall, Bank, Laundromat, company store and 5-bed medical centre.

* The 4 screen multiplex in Infosys Mysore is used to screen movies during weekends as well as hold various events. it's located near the ECC and 2 movies are shown each weekend, one from Hollywood and the other from Bollywood, total 6 shows( 3 for each movie), the tickets are available at the ECC and a huge crowd forms a long queue for the tickets. the tickets are available around 2 hours before the show. So make sure you are in time if you want a good view of the show!

Training @ Infosys Mysore - DAY 0 | FIRST DAY FIRST SHOW!

Curiosity and anxiety are at the peak when you get set for Infosys Mysore. The first question that comes to mind is - What will happen on the first day? What process will be followed for admitting us into the Campus? How rooms will be allotted?
This following information is exclusively posted to help you find answers to all these questions -

>> The First Day or Day 0 refers to the day before your joining date. Say your joining date is on 14th Jan 2012, then Day 0 refers to 13th Jan 2012.

>> You have to report on Day 0 (generally Sunday), You can also report at the campus on the joining date.
>> As soon as you reach the Mysore DC you will find the Infy Gate (Gate 1) where already people would be getting their offer letter shown to the security guards at the gate and getting admitted. If you have laptops then you would be instructed you to go to the security cabin besides the gate where they will record the service tag number of your laptop along with your name.
NOTE : Laptops and other memory storage devices are generally prohibited. Mails will be sent regarding the allowance of these devices

>> Then you have to go inside the main gate to one more stall where they will verify your identity by your driving license, passport or PAN card and then will mark your registration number on their sheet. (For the complete checklist of required documents refer to this post - Training @ Infosys Mysore - GET STARTED)

This way, they will get to know how many people are actually joining out of the total offers issued. This verification is generally done in alphabetical order of your names(or in the order of the selected students list provided by your college). So you have to endure waiting long hours in the queue.

>> Only 2 people (parents) along with you can enter the gate(GATE-2) and they will have to wait at the near by food court(Fiesta) until you finish all your procedure. Parents are not allowed to visit hostel buildings

>> Then you will be transported to the main building in a golf cart or Tata Sumo for room allocation and issue of ID cards.
TIP : Make sure You enter and register with your friend here, the probability is high that You two will get a shared room, happens in most cases.

>> Girls generally get shared rooms. Boys generally get single rooms. If You want friends to be in the same floor or block of the hostel they try to register for room allocation with your friends in a sequence because single rooms will be allotted in a sequence.

Facilities that you may use on the Day of Check in (Day 0 ):

  • You can use all the facilities at Employee Care Center from 6 am – 6 pm on Day 0 (Sunday) of your joining by buying the temporary facilities card for just Rs.50 (Validity - up to 12 am).
  • Movie tickets at the multiplex can be taken two hours before the screening of the movie. Kindly visit the multiplex to check for the show details.
  • Shop in Loyal World (within campus) for daily consumable goods.
